The popularity of Kite flying festivals continues to grow all around the world. In fact, most kite flying festivals all across Asia features "kite fights," which is a revered and an ancient tradition where participants try to down their opponents’ kites by cutting their lines.
This is accomplished by using small, highly maneuverable "fighter kites" that are attached to glass-coated "cutting lines." These specialty "cutting lines" are used to cut the lines of competing kites.
Throughout the month of April the Chinese sky is filled kites that are participating in thesecultural with kite-flying festivals.
Thailand also sponsors an International Kite Festival in which all kites fall into one of two categories:chula (male) or pakpao (female) kites. The kites are hugeand require several people to fly them.
And in Ahmedabad India, visitors from around the world flock to the International Kite Festival on held on January 14.
The festival coincides with the Indian festival of Uttarayan, which celebrates the end of winter.
